What is BatteReverse?
BatteReverse is a research & innovation project funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe programme, that aims to build the next generation of battery reverse logistics.
What is Reverse Logistics?
Reverse logistics (RL) refers to the process of transferring goods from their final destination back to the point of origin, with the aim to recover their value or reduce waste. In the case of electric vehicle batteries, reverse logistics begins when the battery no longer meets the needs of the EV user, due to manufacturing defects, accidents or natural degradation. The process involves various steps, including battery assessment, packaging, transportation, dismantling and sorting, before the battery is utilised in a way that extracts its remaining value, through circularity practices such as refurbishment, repurposing, or recycling.
